No theme is more difficult or pronounced in Resurrecting Randi than the question of “Is life worthwhile?” and the corresponding contemplation of suicide. Both primary characters, Travis Harrison and Layla Sommers, have at some point attempted suicide, and they openly discuss the meaning of life. In fact, the final scene in the novel forces the reader to make a value judgment about these difficult issues. The AFSP is one of many great organizations that provide help for those wrestling with such difficult issues, as well as advice for their families and friends. (www.afsp.org )
